Origin
The JPUSF was duly incorporated as a non for profit organization in October, 2009. Mary L. Baker, one of the granddaughters of the late Julius & Pernellia Union had a vision to start a scholarship foundation for their lineage. Mary knows the importance of having a higher education, graduating from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Business Degree, and an Education Degree from Harris-Stowe University/w Secondary English Teacher Certification. While serving as Pastor for Trinity Christian Fls. Church, she also received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christan College Jacksonville, Florida.
Vision
The vision of the Julius & Pernellia Union Scholarship Foundation is to create a strong family unity system that will promote higher learning for the present and future generations in the Union-Jackson-White lineage.
The family unity system, comprised of the Union-Jackson-White family members, will make contributions annually to grow an adequate financial support endowment. These funds will be used to assist active participants by awarding annual scholarships.
Mission
Our Mission is to encourage and be a family support system to youth in the Union-Jackson-White lineage who have desire for higher educational pursuits, i.e., college, trade, vocation, or any institute for certification or degree.
Active participants of the Union-Jackson-White family are awarded annual scholarships, disbursed monthly along with helpful life-skill and educational tools, The tools are designed for self-enhancement and how to maintain resiliency (mentally, emotionally, physically and spirtually).
Ultimately, our youth will not only have their ability and a dream; but the courage to use their ability to gain the knowledge needed to make the dream a reality; and a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.
